The People's Republic of Zarevsk is a small, safe nation, notable for its state-planned economy, restrictive gun laws, and devotion to social welfare. The compassionate, cynical population of 20 million Zarevskians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Welfare, and Administration. The average income tax rate is 71.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The basket case Zarevskian economy, worth 254 billion drens a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector is led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Trout Farming. Average income is 12,719 drens, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

It is illegal to make racist remarks in public, a well-funded social safety net protects the unfortunate, Harry Potter books are banned, and traffic cops spend most of their work-hours calculating citizens' monthly income. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Zarevsk's national animal is the gray wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Zarevsk is ranked 37,070^th in the world and 69^th in Christians for Highest Average Tax Rates, with 71.19 Effective Tax Rate.
