Outpost Gamma, New Bethlehem Federal District - Outside - 5.17.26 - 10:03 AM
An Airbus Helicopter H215 lands outside of Outpost Gamma, New Bethlehem Federal District. A group of guards from the Pastoral Protective Force (PPF) rushes to the helicopter. The doors open, four additional PPF guards exit the helicopter, finally Pastor Ethan Whitmer and Press Secretary Chleo Bustamante also disembark. Both the Pastor and Press Secretary are escorted into the building.
Outpost Gamma, New Bethlehem Federal District - Inside, Meeting Room 000 - 5.17.26 - 10:09 AM
Pastor Ethan Whitmer, Press Secretary Bustamante, and all the PPF guards enter the room. Secretary of Defense & Sovereignty David Longshot, Grand Admiral Jonah Bay from the Coast Guard, Grand General Marcus Ring from the National Guard, and Public Image Secretary Dianna McGregor are already inside, seated in a circular table with a huge tv in front of them displaying different images. Secretary Longshot, Grand Admiral Bay, and Grand General Ring stand and salute the Pastor.
"Thank you so much for joining us in such a short notice, Pastor Whitmer", said Secretary David Longshot.
"At ease", says Pastor Whitmer, "It is not every day that I receive a call notifying me of the location of the city-state's most wanted."
The Secretary and the Grand Leaders sit down.
"At first we were unsure about whether or not our intel was correct, but our inside agents confirm it, Faris Najjar is currently in a stolen oil tanker from Bigtopia... with Colonel Al-Masri", explains Grand Admiral Bay.
"Colonel Al-Masri!?", shouts Pastor Whitmer.
Pastor Whitmer and Press Secretary Bustamante finally take a seat. Folders are handed to them, and they begin to browse through them.
"All three intelligence branches show the same intel Pastor, both Najjar and Al-Masri are out of hiding... we have the possibility of taking down both the leader and one of the highest officers of Bloody Waters", explains Secretary Longshot.
"What are our options?" asks Pastor Whitmer.
"The Council stated that they are willing to approve any military force", says Public Image Secretary McGregor.
"Any?", asks Pastor Whitmer.
"Any."
"I don't want any causalities", clarifies the Pastor.
"With all due respect Pastor, we are more likely to lose men if we try to arrest them", says Grand Admiral Bay.
"The Coast Guard and National Guard have a strike group awaiting your command; we have 3 F-16s with ship-sinking capabilities ready to take off and sink the oil tanker", explains Secretary Longshot.
"Public perception in the city-state will be positive, but what about abroad?", asks Press Secretary Bustamante.
"I am ready to contact Bigtopia if needed, as well as any other country that might want to discuss what took place", says Secretary McGregor, "nevertheless, we will probably only receive a lot of heat from environmental activist and organizations"
"Are we certain we can successfully sink this ship without losing any Baptist lives?", asks Pastor Whitmer.
"Yes sir!", answers Secretary Longshot.
"Fourteen years ago, Bloody Waters attacked our city-state... gentlemen, today we retaliate!", shouts the Pastor.
Undisclosed National Guard Base, Undisclosed Location- Outside - 5.17.26 - 10:44 AM

The Cultus of St. Alamander the Great, Equal-to-the-Apostles, First Emperor of Appalachia— Pt. I
When Alamander the Great, the First Emperor of Appalachia, Liberator of the Peoples of the Highlands, the Sword of Christ, and Father of the Commonwealth reposed, his passing was not as that as many monarchs or royals. Instead of dying in glory on the field of battle or falling victim to a assassins blade, the first autocrat of the Commonwealth gave up the ghost in his chambers, surrounded by family, ministers, and clergy, a frail man marked by thirty-seven years of governance over Appalachia. In the days before his repose, the emperor requested to receive the vows of the Great Schema, and spent his dying moments not in imperial regalia, but the vestments of a monk, the ancient prayer of the Publican constantly upon his lips.
After receiving the Mysteries and being tonsured into the ranks of the Great Schema, the ailing emperor looked upon those gathered. A faint smile upon his face, the countenance of the emperor fell upon his cousin, Adrian.
“I trust you. Take lead of our people. Keep them safe.”
After blessing the heir-apparent, the emperor turned his gaze to the roof above him. Uttering a final prayer, he breathed his last, and the rising of his chest ceased.
Alamander the Great— the one who oversaw the Baptism of the Hillfolk, united the scattered communities and clans, established the Commonwealth on faith and common law, rebuilt the broken infrastructure of a forgotten region, and penned a great many theological works expounding on the Orthodox faith— was dead.
Amidst the mourning, it became noticed that the emperor’s countenance did not lose the faint smile he retained in life. This was further compounded by the lingering smell of incense in the room which began at the very moment the emperor reposed. The bishop Nicholas of Lexington (who would later be appointed the first Patriarch of Appalachia) made the sign of the cross and remarked:
“We have lost a ruler, but have gained a intercessor before the Throne of Christ.”
The Appalachian Orthodox Church: Occidental Orthodoxy & the Commonwealth
The Orthodoxy of Appalachia and her people goes without saying in the new world following the death of the United States. Once a heartland of Baptist, Pentecostal, Methodist, Restorationist, and a myriad of other streams of revivalistic Protestant faith, the ancient mountain region has since undergone a rather radical conversion. Thanks to the missionary efforts of the Patriarchate of Antioch in North America and those of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, Appalachia had become a rapidly-growing center of the Orthodox Christian faith even before the Fall, a conversion which has been enshrined in the Commonwealth’s national mythology as the “Baptism of the Hillfolk.” But, as with all things, Appalachia remains a peculiar nation even amongst their Eastern brethren.
Travelers from the general Orthodox world who journey to Appalachia will find a faithful people steeped in devotion to Christ and a deep love for His Mother and all the Saints. Roadside shrines are a common sight, radios play church choir recordings as often as sermons from local priests and popular music, every public building has a crucifix hanging above the doorframe, and if you’re ever invited into a local’s home you’ll find a well-used Prayerbook sitting alongside the family Bible in the home’s icon corner. Prayer ropes abound, and the constant recitation of the Jesus Prayer is encouraged by the spiritual authorities of the Church.
However, despite these similarities to their own devotion in the East, these Byzantine wanderers will note some… quaint distinctions.
Maybe it’s the church choir you hear on the radio, singing a song that sounds suspiciously western. Around the celebration of the Nativity of Christ (in January, as per Appalachian custom), that song is most likely “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” a favorite among locals. If they visited one of the weekly-packed parishes of the Appalachian Church, they’d seen a lovingly-carved roodwall instead of the typical iconostasis. Instead of the Divine Liturgy of St. John the Goldenmouth, they’d get to experience the Mass of St. Gregory the Great, though on some days the Mass of St. Tikhon might be what they see. If they go to receive the Body & Blood of Christ, they’d find that instead of a spoon, they kneel to receive a leavened wafer, dipped into the chalice first, placed on their tongue by the priest in his non-Byzantine looking vestments. They’d see the icons have a distinctly folksy look— still adherent to the received iconographic tradition of the Church, of course, but looking more at home in old England than in the halls of Constantinople. If you take a look through one of their prayerbooks, you’ll even find that some use a corrected version of the ‘Book of Common Prayer.’
You see, the Appalachian Church is firmly orthodox in their doctrine. They affirm all Seven Ecumenical Councils, they accept the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed in its original form, they accept the Essence-Energy Distinction of St. Gregory Palamas, and they reject the accretions of the Papal Church for the conciliar understanding of Church government and the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception for the historic teaching on the sinlessness of the Blessed Virgin Mary (the Theotokos). However, the Appalachian Church has the distinction of being the only autocephalous body within the Orthodox Catholic Communion to be a ‘Occidental’ Orthodox Church. The doctrines of the East are upheld in their totality with no differentiation, but the liturgical customs of the Hillfolk are rooted in the Pre-Schism West, and have been built upon that. Even the monastic custom of the Appalachian Church is equally derived from the Rule of St. Benedict and that of the Desert Fathers (who also influenced the ancient monasticism of the Celtic Church).
While one more accustomed to the rites and styles of the Byzantine East might find this scandalous, the truth is much deeper. The people of Appalachia had maintained much of the old flame of Western Orthodoxy as it was prior to the Schism of 1054. Small traditions here or there, but the embers still lingered on. When Emperor St. Alamander went about uniting the Hillfolk, he instructed the priests and monks in his realm to scour the churches, seek out every minute detail of their custom, and see what was Orthodox in nature. They were then instructed to see to it that the Western Rite— which had been bolstered by Antioch and Moscow— be standardized in the Commonwealth, specifically seeking to restore Occidental Orthodoxy as it was before the Body of Christ was tore asunder by schism. Since this ancient restoration project, Appalachian Orthodoxy has blossomed as a distinctly Western, distinctly Appalachian expression of the faith once given to the saints, and has formed the heart and soul of a people forgotten and afflicted by history.
The light shone forth from the East, and found waiting embers to be rekindled in the West.

AUSTRALIA OPENS ITS INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION NETWORKS, OPENS BORDERS
This Afternoon, President James Mulligan of the Christian Autocratic States of Australia ordered the immediate activation of all Global Communication Channels from Australia to outside nations after months of closed borders and no word from the nation, this sudden isolation brought on after the Christian Resistance Front successfully liberated Australia, ousting the Commonwealth Government-in-exile and assuming full, total and supreme control and governance over what was the Commonwealth of Australia and is now, The Christian Autocratic States of Australia. President Mulligan also gave a televised nationwide announcement, specifically for the international community. The announcement contained the following from our Great Leader. [START TRANSMISSION] "Hello, These recent months and the silence of our nation have been paramount to the reconstruction and rebuilding of infrastructure, aswell as the construction of this new Government. What can only be described as a difficult, conflict plagued couple of months had plagued this nation. But the outcome was the liberation of the people, liberation of Christians nationwide, and the liberation of this great country. Many sacrifices were made along the way, but all were necessary. I speak this message to international entities all around, each and every nation. We are not hungry for war, or hate, or evil as some medias will make us out to be and have made us out to be. We are a nation reborn, under new ideals, new laws, and new structure. Not the false comfort democracy once gave, but instead, This Great Autocracy, in which will lead, shape and form every part of this nation into the Christian, Secure, Strong, Powerhouse in which Australia was first planned to be." [END TRANSMISSION.], President Mulligan gave only those words, showing the strength that our Great Leader desires to give unto us. With that announcement, President Mulligan approximately 2 hours later, reopened borders to western countries (except New Zealand) and resumed all tourist travel back and forth (under new internal and external security laws, the new Department of Nationwide Security, the Protectorate of Australia and the Department of Border Security), with residence and immigration still closed as of now. However, because of our President, our future looks bright. Glory to God, and Glory to The Autocracy!
