The stay was lacklustre. There was hardly anyone about. The Great Library in the Region aka RMB is full of
heavy metal recommendations, albeit from years ago.
The region is basically a giant billboard for Lily, with no traces of its heavy metal heritage
anywhere.
Interesting sights in the Community:
I saw a reverse zombie. Instead of its flesh decomposing, its flesh was growing back on it. Cool. I interacted with
it, it came all the way from Balder. Its favourite bands are Van Halen and Led Zeppelin. Someone play Stairway
To Heaven for this nation.
The regional officer is a cute catgirl with the title Join Lily. Although it seems the regional officer has
left for other regions. The catgirl had a nice flag of a red stripe on the top and a black strip of the bottom with a yellow circle connecting the joints. Here's an image of it. images/flags/Default.png I find it very cute. I sent her a telegram. No reply yet.

We haven't been opening embassies with fascist regions for a very long time. We use a script to identify new regions to send embassy requests to. The script excluded regions tagged as fascist, and any that have "Nazi", "fascist", or "national socialist" in the name. There were a couple of bugs in the script which got fixed a couple of months back, so there were one or two fascist regions slipped through. Also, regions could tag themselves as fascist after we'd sent an embassy request.
We just never went back to close existing embassies. There never really seemed any point. They didn't post on our RMB, and we didn't post on theirs. You had to look pretty hard at our list of embassies to notice that they existed at all.
Literally hundreds of our embassies CTE each month. And that includes the fascist ones. By simply not opening new fascist embassies, the number of those embassies was dropping.
I don't believe the Liberation proposal ever would have passed. And if it had, we would just have started again in a new region. It would be a set back, but not too bad.
So why change the policy?
Well, as with many decisions in life, there's a few reasons.
One is that since the fascist embassies we're all going to die off anyway, it made little difference to the long term total embassy count if we closed them now. It just made it all a bit more public.
Another (which I hadn't appreciated before) was that while you could look at The Embassy and not see any obvious signs of fascists, the opposite was not true. If you looked at a fascist region, you could see they had an embassy with us. And so from that point of view, we were "normalising" fascism. I hadn't seen it from that angle before.
Although the story has gone quiet for now, it is not over. There's still a lot going on in the background. The "big bang" has happened, but there are still a lot of details to resolve. There's been dozens of conversations had, all of which are helping inform how we move forward. It will take a while, but it will be good to get those details right.
