Strengthening Korea–China Relations

Today.

The Republic of Korea is looking to the future with confidence; it has achieved its prosperity as a result of having worked hard, been determined, and cooperated with the rest of the world, and it is now necessary for us to carry on this effort by reinforcing the relationships which contribute to our nation's peace, security, and prosperity.

One of those relationships is the way we relate to the People's Republic of China.

China is an important economic partner of Korea, and we will aim to expand bilateral trade, investment, and the cooperation between our businesses and people. We will look for more opportunities for Korean companies in China while at the same time welcoming Chinese investment and cooperation in Korea.

At the same time, both our countries have an important role to play in ensuring the stability of the Korean Peninsula. They will cooperate with Beijing in promoting stability in North Korea as well as supporting the diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving the denuclearization of the peninsula.

Our approach is simple: we promote stronger economic ties, closer communication, and cooperation to achieve peace and stability.

The Korean Republic will keep having constructive dealings with China as it works towards achieving a peaceful and secure future for the Korean Peninsula.

January.

New Years.

New York City.

Fireworks lit up Times Square, as the ball dropped from a height of 2013 feet. It was the highest ball drop in history, and it beckoned a new world for America.

In the last ten years, the world has become quite a lot. America’s old president,John McCain, led the charge against terrorism, following the 9/11 attacks that damaged major portions of the National Mall, nearly destroying the Capitol, as well as the Pentagon and the Twin Towers. Towers that ten years later, in 2011, began reconstruction of a One World Trade Centre, though it has since gone through major reconstruction proposals to make it even taller, aiming higher than the original 1,368 feet height plus the antenna, to a soaring 2,108 feet tall, and radically changing how the building is supposed to be.

In 2001, following the travesties of 9/11, Riyahd felt the full weight of the burden of the consequences of their crimes. Once thought to be a great ally, the Saud Dynasty was arrested, stripped of their wealth and power, and imprisoned in America, while a new Republic was established. Two years later, Iraq attempted to seize the new Arabian Republic’s oil supplies, and too, was forced into a good Republic at the hands of the USA and her British Allies.

In the wake of the Middle Eastern Wars, American optimism was waning, in 2006. John McCain managed to win reelection in 2004, but by 2006, the House was lost to Democrats, as a firm referendum on his presidency. The Middle Eastern Wars were getting out of control, Europe was slipping away, a rise of populism and nationalism worried Americans in Europe, and now McCain did nothing to save Ukraine from the restoring USSR. This would prove far more crucial than anyone would have imagined, when, in 2008, the Great Recession hit, and Democrats blocked a bail out, under the motto “No One Is Too Big To Fail.”

John McCain and the Republicans were raked over the coals, for their proposed bail out of rich billionaires, instead of helping the Americans, and people wanted a change that popular Democratic Candidate Barack Obama did not promise, seeing the upstart from Hawaii loose to Hilary Clinton, the former First Lady who won the Presidency and the House in 2008, even if the Senate stayed Red.

In her first months as President, Hilary Clinton authorized with Congress, 110 Billion Dollars of direct subsidies and grants and loans, to countless rural small businesses, small regional banks, focusing heavily on endowments to America’s historic Coal Country, stating plainly that the miners there sacrificed their lives and their health for generations, trying to support America. She passed eight months later, laws to support the subsidization of Renewable Energy, nearly canceling out her popularity in Coal Country, and losing her the House in 2010, even as her popularity soared, winning her party the Senate from the remaining lands of major Appalachian States who welcomed Federal support of their states, who were hit hard in the Recession.

Following an approach of Laissez-Faire Reconstruction, Hilary Clinton’s Government focused heavily on closing tax loopholes aggressively for the rich, and providing tax cuts to the poor and middle classes, penalizing through high taxation “high frequency trading” and pursued a formal Detente with Russia even after its aggressive reconquest of former Soviet Territories, seeing the New START treaty signed, and a rise of nuclear energy slowly in the United States as denuclearization continued on course, working to transform old nuclear bombs into viable energy sources using their enriched uranium, though this was not majorly pursued in her first term.

Under Hilary Clinton, the National Mall began a great renewal, as John McCain had largely left the ruined Mall untouched, as a silent memorial to 9/11. Clinton instead, took a different approach, rebuilding a new, taller Washington Monumental Obilisk, and a more polished reflecting pool, with the lawns relandscaped, with a new memorial of modest size placed opposing the Capitol Building opposite it on Third Street, to commemorate those who died in the 9/11 tragedy.

During the 2008-2012 Recession, Americans were flooded with information from abroad. New Italian television shows, social media, sports, and high art. It was an attempt by the new Italian Regie to legitimize itself world wide, and while attractive to some Americans, it also coalesced with a growing restoration of the local business after the failure of the bailouts, leading to a counter-cultural movement called the New Americana, presenting an almost Sugared and Confectionary take on traditional Americana. The romanticization of Small Town Life. The Little Big Town. Retro, and intensely patriotic, Americans felt more earnestly American, in spite of Europe, than ever before, and the President was not ashamed to cooperate with this, despite her less than ideal relationship with the American press.

During the years following the Recession, more than a hundred laws were passed in the first two years. The only two years Hillary Clinton and the Democrats held both houses and the White House. In those years, oil drilling slowed in the Arctic for the first time in years, being overtaken by natural gas, in a program to move towards hydrogen and other natural gases, and nuclear, over coal and oil. Clinton oversaw the weakening of restrictions on immigration, streamlining the process for many, yet also oversaw one of the largest deportation “round ups” in American history, deporting hundreds of thousands over her first term, beginning construction of over 1,000 miles of wall and barriers along the Mexican border. New taxes on high frequency stock trading, a slashing of former tax cuts and credits for big businesses, and higher tax credits to families who spent money on childcare made her popular with some. She lowered barriers and regulations on small businesses, providing grants and tax cuts and subsidies to small and medium manufacturers, and expanded a mandatory maternity leave to 12 weeks at ⅔ pay.

However, additionally, Clinton upset many with her other policies, which saw more traction after 2010, with Republican congressmen, as she moved away from the Nordic Model on healthcare, instead managing to pass a law requiring all employers to provide optional healthcare plans with tax credit for the plans, as well as rolling back previous plans for larger State Healthcare, instead providing free healthcare only to disabled people, people on unemployment, and veterans. This, combined with green lighting many oil and natural gas pipelines through Native Reservations, expanding capacity for International Trade Agreements particularly across the Pacific and North America, and her overall support for a continued strong military and support for veterans, upset many more far-left democrats.

This Year, entering 2013, the American Economy is finally rebounding. New small and medium sized businesses are flourishing, and many older named companies took massive hits, as traditional Big Name banks eroded, and countless millionaires and billionaires were arrested and heavily questioned, though no charges were ever properly taken against them. This opposed the Occupy Wallstreet Movement, which saw 2,000 protesters outside Wall Street arrested and convicted, though instantly pardoned by President Clinton. Still, the movement was seared into peoples’ minds, and with the rise of the LGBT movement across America since the end of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy in 2010, American youth were increasingly divided, yet somehow the vibe was high.

What made Clinton’s Presidency more controversial than anything though, was the Treaty of Ottowa, 2009. The Recession had hit Canada far worse, lacking the Maritime Provinces and Quebec since the 1970s. With little hope of economy, and the Recession risking to throw Canada into a Depression, Hilary Clinton managed to negotiate what many satirists called the Canadian Purchase, seeing an agreement for the annexation of Canada into the United States. It was assumed this decision lost Clinton Congress in 2010, but in doing so, the next years were marred with constant negotiations, bail outs, and treaties more. Now, in 2013, Canada is definitely joining the Union, but how, and in what manner, is yet to be seen.

As Hilary Clinton enters her second term, what come of this world, it is unknown, but it seems the Madame President has more to work with than ever before, and more problems to settle than ever before.
