Happy Canada Day to Canada from your friends in Texas! Fête du Canada!

Somebody point us at the poutine, beaver tails, and Canadian Pizza, please!

I'm afraid beaver is off the menu on environmental grounds. You'll find the poutine, some fine Nuevan pizza, doughnuts and most importantly beer just over there ------>

FYI

Beaver tails are fried dough pastries, individually hand stretched to resemble beaver's tails, topped with either sweet or savory ingredients.

But it sonds bad, so we have to outlaw it. :P

Huge crash at the start of the British GP, the race is red-flagged just now. All drivers appear to be OK, but Zhou Guanyu and Alex Albon are headed to hospital for observation. Russel is OK, but his car was left stranded and he is out of the race.

EDIT: Confirmed - all drivers are OK.

So: a very eventful race, lots of good match-ups all down the field. Apart from the 3 who were out from the initial crash there were a further 3 retirments, to leave only 14 finishers. Sainz got his first GP win, Hamilton was on the podium at his home race, LeClerc regained points over Verstappen (but fewer than he would have hoped), and Mick Schumacher got his first points.

1 Sainz (Ferrari) 25
2 Perez (Red Bul) 18
3 Hamilton (Mercedes) 16 (incl 1 for fastest lap)
4 Leclerc (Ferrari) 12
5 Alonso (Alpine) 10
6 Norris (McLaren) 8
7 Verstappen (Red Bull) 6
8 Schumacher (Haas) 4
9 Vettel (Aston Martin) 2
10 Magnussen (Haas) 1

The origins are a little obscure, but I think it developed from WTC (welcome to Canada). Likewise we have woobactac for returnees. Just a local tradition.

Papa thinks since ‘05?

It might be even earlier, I think it was already a thing when I I got here in '04.
