Would also like to just say that the Confederacy lasted five years, and the U.S.A flag is also the flag of rebels. The difference is that we won.

I don't know if Gadsen said it, but isn't the second half to the phrase 'I won't tread on you'?

If it isnít it should be.

Yeah but imagine the US lost and stayed a British colony, then in the modern age, New Englanders fly the US flag alongside the British flag and a Queen Elizabeth Forever flag. It doesnít make any sense, those flags have conflicting messages.

Yes. Confederate heritage sort of flys in the face of the other 239 years of Southern history they weren't at war with the United States. What gets me is when someone talks about patriotic, red-blooded, typical Americans, and the picture they present is if a guy flying the Confederate flag, rather than old glory. I mean really, what? I also don't think the South gets this, but the North barely talks about the civil war. The Son's of the Confederacy Union counterpart has far fewer members, there is precisely one famous Grant statue compared to about a dozen well known Lee Statues and we sure aren't flying the old U.S. flag from that time period. Everything about modern honoring of the Confederacy is both historically weird and ironic.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
-The quote by MLK jr that everyone forgets suddenly

I firmly hold the stance that all our problems right now (and throughout history) come from a lack of God in our lives
In this day and age, we replaced Christianity with SJW ideologies and politics. These are hollow substitutes that offer no forgiveness, no compassion and no love

ďLack of GodĒ didnít kill George Floyd, it was the stupid actions of a stupid police officer.

The Burke Islands wrote:ďLack of GodĒ didnít kill George Floyd, it was the stupid actions of a stupid police officer.

I mean, yes it did. If God is love (he is) then a lack of God killed George Floyd because love is what makes possible justice, wisdom, and understanding. However, while stupid actions are not entirely the cause of why he died, they sufficiently explain some of why he did. Preventing stupid racism systematically would prevent his death, which, I would argue, is because implementing a less racist policing system would be more in line with love, i.e. God.

God is the ultimate cause of all good, his lack in us the ultimate cause of all evil.

That said, I'm not sure how the BLM movement fails to show forgiveness, compassion, and love. Ignoring over-generalizations, the general thesis to end racism in policing is pro-love, social justice-oriented reform does not need to exclude the possibility of forgiveness, as long as it includes accountability, and as for compassion, I think that the anti-SJW ideologies in America, that insist on prioritizing preserving statues, symbols, and broken systems are the only ideologies lacking in compassion in America. The Social Justice movement is far more akin to Christian thought than regressive conservatism. I'd much prefer an "Amazing Grace" "Gods will be done" sort of Social Justice movement, but justice is justice at the end of the day, even if a movement fails to consider God explicitly.

I think Ebnious is drawing a false distinction between te present Social Justice Movement and God. The two are not mutual exclusive.

Need I remind everyone "Faith without works is dead." (James 2;14) you cannot have God without action, facilitating political change is necessary to have God fully in our lives, because acting to will the betterment of all people is necessary to love God.

Christianity is inherently oriented towards seeking social justice, social justice ideologies do not replace Christianity, they're just an ingredient to it. Atheistic social justice movements are like a bowl of pasta without the sauce. They have the substance of the thing, the whole point to Christianity, without the joy of Christianity, which is God.

...I really like pasta sauce.
