The Pretty Boring Federation of Ventakia is a mammoth, efficient nation, ruled by Sir Edward the III with an even hand, and notable for its smutty television, daily referendums, and devotion to social welfare. The compassionate population of 8.37 billion Ventakians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Healthcare, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Endavo. The average income tax rate is 84.8%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Ventakian economy, worth a remarkable 1,199 trillion Ventakian marks a year, is led by the Tourism industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Book Publishing, and Furniture Restoration. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 143,255 Ventakian marks, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The writing style of religious hymns often changes mid-stanza, the inchworm that measured the marigolds is six feet under, afternoon delight in care homes is restricted to a serving of spotted dick at 3pm, and estate agents justify funky smells by revealing how often the previous owners showered. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ventakia's national animal is the Ca 1, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Essalian Threvanity.

Ventakia is ranked 5,351^st in the world and 239^th in The North Pacific for Nicest Citizens, with 44.58 average smiles per day.
